The Australian Foundation for the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross exists for one single purpose: to help the University carry out its mission of forming future leaders for the Catholic Church.

Giving Philosophy

The foundation believes in forming future leaders for the Catholic Church by enabling priests, seminarians, religious, and lay leaders to receive high-level education in theology, canon law, philosophy, and church communications at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. This formation is considered vital for strengthening the Church, promoting a deeper understanding of faith, and empowering leaders to engage with contemporary culture and effectively preach the Gospel in their communities.

Applications for Australian scholarships must be authorized by the Bishop of the applicant's Australian Diocese or Rite.

• Funded 60 scholarship grants for seminarians and priests from dioceses in need from 18 countries between 2002 and 2024.
• Provides at least one annual scholarship of approximately AUD 16,800 (€10,500) for an Australian priest to study for a Licentiate degree at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
