Medi Aid Centre Foundation Ltd
Tips for Applicants
This is not a traditional grantmaking foundation - they provide direct services rather than grants. For benevolent housing, applicants must be over 65, have no assets, provide Centrelink documentation proving financial hardship, and be able to live independently including handling stairs. Currently no vacancies on Gold Coast but Sydney properties may have availability. The foundation prioritizes those at risk of homelessness with no family support. Contact them directly to discuss eligibility rather than submitting a formal grant application.
Giving Philosophy
Founded on the principle to 'look after the elderly' (advice from Dr Knight's father Arthur Knight), Medi-Aid operates as a non-profit with a mission to help elderly people who are frail, lack family support and housing, and have no additional funds. The foundation takes a direct service provision approach rather than grantmaking, owning and maintaining properties to provide housing solutions. Operates a resident funding housing scheme where 30% of residents contribute to costs, cross-subsidizing benevolent accommodation for the 70% who cannot pay.
