Tips for Applicants

PRF does not appear to accept unsolicited applications - they proactively identify and select a small number of strategic projects aligned with their mission. Focus is on drug discovery and development projects with strong commercialization potential that can demonstrate innovative approaches. Projects must align with Parkinson's disease research and be at a stage where venture philanthropy funding can help reach commercial viability. The foundation takes an active management role, so researchers should expect frequent reviews and ongoing strategic involvement.

Giving Philosophy

Adopts a venture philanthropy model that differs from traditional grant-making by supporting innovative projects rejected by conventional funders, taking significant financial risks, and providing sustained funding through research phases with active involvement rather than requiring repeated grant applications. Focuses on catalytic investments in areas where they can generate greatest impact, supporting projects to the point where they can attract commercial venture capital funding.

Notable Grants

Partnership funding to WEHI Parkinson's Disease Research Centre for drug discovery research
