PanKind Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Limited
Tips for Applicants
Only one application per institution per grant scheme is allowed, so internal selection is competitive. The foundation explicitly values innovation beyond incremental improvements—they want novel concepts with solid rationale and feasibility data. Well-developed projects with existing pilot data should apply for the Accelerator Grant; earlier-stage proof-of-concept work suits the Innovation Grants. Australian-based principal investigators are required, but international collaborations are encouraged. Budget quality is an assessment criterion, and grantees must present results at future Pankind events. Contact grants@pankind.org.au for clarifications before applying.
Giving Philosophy
Pankind operates as a 'gap funder'—providing early-stage capital when researchers lack proof-of-concept data to attract larger government or institutional grants. Their theory of change centres on leveraging initial investments to unlock multiple times more funding from other sources, creating a multiplier effect. They focus on funding across the full research lifecycle from early detection through to clinical translation, believing that early funding accelerates scientific breakthroughs that eventually attract major follow-on investment.

Marianne Allan Pancreatic Research Grant
In 2025, an Early Detection Grant was named the Marianne Allan Pancreatic Research Grant in honour of Marianne Allan, dedicated to helping improve outcomes through detecting pancreatic cancer earlier.
Research Grants
Research projects focusing on early detection, new treatments, tumour microenvironment, and clinical management of pancreatic cancer
New Treatment Innovation Grant
This grant supports early-stage research to develop new treatments, diagnostics, or quality-of-care improvements for pancreatic cancer. It funds innovative ideas that have the potential to impact treatment or diagnostics, even without extensive preliminary supporting data.
New Treatment Accelerator Grant
This grant funds advanced research to fast-track new treatments from the lab to clinical application, driving real-world impact. It contributes to advancing the translation of promising therapies to clinical studies or practice.
Early Detection Innovation Grant
This grant funds innovative research to improve early detection and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer by supporting feasibility and proof-of-concept studies. It supports established and/or early career Australian researchers to develop preliminary data and attract additional funding.
