THE TRUSTEE FOR STATE TRUSTEES AUSTRALIA FOUNDATION
Tips for Applicants
The Foundation is primarily a bequest vehicle rather than a traditional grant-making foundation accessible to all applicants. Charities benefit from it when donors specifically name them in their wills or when they align with the Foundation's grant program priorities. To access funding, organizations should: (1) engage with State Trustees' Charitable Giving team to understand current grant programs and priorities, (2) ensure registration with ACNC as a DGR-eligible charity, (3) focus applications on supporting vulnerable Victorians, particularly in regional areas, or on medical research and environmental causes. Note that the Foundation operates over 200 individual sub-funds, many designated for specific charities by donors.
Giving Philosophy
The Foundation facilitates structured perpetual giving, investing bequest capital and distributing income annually while preserving the principal. Donors can direct their gifts to specific charities, general charitable purposes, or the Foundation's grant programs. The Foundation emphasizes long-term sustainable impact through endowed giving, allowing donors' values to benefit future generations. It focuses on vulnerable populations, medical research, environmental protection, and regional Victorian communities.
