Tips for Applicants

Applications are assessed quarterly at Board meetings, so timing is important. The trust has very specific eligibility requirements - you must be a registered Shareholder of one of the five Traditional Owner Groups, a member of the Napranum community, or meet other defined criteria. The WCCT Finance Team (07 4069 7945 or fgo1@westerncape.com.au) actively assists with application completion and visits communities to help with the process. Applications must meet strict charitable purposes under ATO rules - no funding for wages, operating costs, or administration fees. Most grants have specific caps and frequency limits (e.g., equipment every 3 years, whitegoods every 4 years). Always provide detailed budgets, quotes from suppliers, and required documentation (report cards for education, medical letters for health equipment, proof of tenancy for whitegoods). Payments go directly to suppliers, not individuals. Public acknowledgement of CSRT funding is required for most grants. The trust prioritizes community-wide benefit over individual gain.

Giving Philosophy

Operates under strict charitable purposes defined by the trust deed and ATO requirements: relief of poverty and needs arising from old age/sickness/distress, advancement of education and religion, and other purposes beneficial to Traditional Owner communities. Funding is structured around three key objectives: Community Development (infrastructure, health, social development), Community Support (Rangers, bursaries, cultural heritage), and Traditional Owner Group Support. Places strong emphasis on community-wide benefit rather than individual enrichment, with explicit prohibitions on operating expenses, wages, and administration fees.
