Shark Island Foundation Feature Docs Pitch
Four development grants for feature-length documentary projects (75 mins+) in development, including participation in a four-day creative residency at Shark Island Kangaroo Valley. Projects must be character-driven, have a distinctive point of view, creative vision, clear artistic style, and potential to shift thinking. Applications are made through AIDC’s Cut to the Chase program.
Production Grant
Funding for documentary films at pre-production, production, or post-production stage. Key requirements include footage (concept reel, character compile, or rough cut), a 1-2 page proposal, other funding sources or a strategy for attracting funding, and a clear audience/impact plan. Applications are accepted on a year-round basis.
Outreach Grant
Funding for documentary films at the post-production stage, with a preference for films previously supported by a Production grant. Requires a rough cut, a known pathway to audience, partnerships in place, and a realistic and targeted outreach plan. Grants may also be offered to a film’s key partner organisation. Applications are accepted on a year-round basis.
Development Grants
Funding for early-stage documentary development - script, research, concept development
