About

Seed Northern Rivers (formerly Mullum S.E.E.D.) is an Australian philanthropic foundation operating as a dynamic ecosystem of changemakers, organisations, and community groups. For over 15 years, it has acted as a catalyst and backbone organisation, supporting more than 35 grassroots initiatives with mentoring, resources, strategic support, and access to vital, shared infrastructure, primarily focused on regenerating the environment and building resilience across the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Tips for Applicants

Seed Northern Rivers primarily functions as a backbone organisation, supporting its member organisations and initiatives. Prospective applicants (members) can benefit from their services which include auspicing for tax-deductible donations, strategic support, mentoring, access to grant lists for environmental organisations, and direct support with writing grant applications from their General Managers and Board members. They also offer workshops on grant writing. The first step for organisations or individuals aligning with their mission is to submit an Expression of Interest to become a member of their network.

Giving Philosophy

Seed Northern Rivers' theory of change is deeply rooted in the belief that regenerative transformation is achieved when local changemakers are resourced, connected, and empowered within a supportive ecosystem. They prioritise and support First Nations leadership, foster collective impact and collaborations, and aim for holistic support of a regional movement for systemic transformation. By nurturing interconnections between people, projects, and landscapes, the foundation seeks to strengthen the Northern Rivers' collective capacity to heal Country, build resilience, and foster a thriving, regenerative future.
