Description

Reimagining child participation in family courts: A therapeutic approach. This project aims to understand children’s participation in family court matters as family violence victim-survivors in their own right. This project expects to generate new knowledge about family violence-informed, trauma-informed and child-centred practice in family courts, using doctrinal, empirical and interdisciplinary approaches and participatory action research with children as lived experience experts. Expected outcomes include a novel theoretical framework for child participation, and a co-designed practice framework for family law system professionals. Anticipated significant benefits include safer family court outcomes for children; better compliance with parenting orders; and improved family court responses to family violence.. Scheme: Discovery Early Career Researcher Award. Field: 4804 - Law In Context. Lead: A/Prof Georgina Dimopoulos
