Description
A Human Rights Implementation Assessment for Mental Health Law and Policy. This project aims to develop an implementation assessment framework to assess Australia’s compliance, in mental health law, policy and practice, with international human rights law. This framework would be a world-first, created using participatory research methods that involve mental health service users as experts by experience, and therefore in accordance with norms of mental health policy and human rights. The framework would be tested in two jurisdictions at a critical moment of change in Australian mental health law and policy. The anticipated goal is to develop clear and measurable standards to help advance human rights compliance, which will benefit mental health service users, as well as their families, communities and governments.. Scheme: Discovery Projects. Field: 4804 - Law In Context. Lead: A/Prof Piers Gooding
