Description

Intercultural protocols for sustainable human activity in outer space. This project undertakes important groundwork for embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge in Australian space policy. The project is an intercultural collaboration guided by Yolngu (NE Arnhem Land) and Gumbaynggirr (mid north coast NSW) Custodians, songlines and creation stories, aiming to broaden understandings of outer space by identifying and supporting Aboriginal connections between space and life on earth. Guided by these connections, the project aims to develop intercultural guidelines for sustainable human activity in outer space to educate the public, industry stakeholders and policy-makers, and to contribute to culturally respectful and environmentally responsible space exploration..
