Description

AI-empowered smart acoustic sensing system for metal additive manufacturing. While metal additive manufacturing technology is gradually accepted for industrial and commercial applications, effective in-situ process monitoring for quality assurance remains a substantial challenge. This project aims to develop an AI-empowered smart acoustic sensing system for real-time monitoring of metal additive manufacturing processes. This project intends to establish a comprehensive acoustic model to characterise the acoustic production mechanics during manufacturing processes and to design an acoustics-informed neural network architecture that combine the acoustic models and deep learning techniques. The anticipated outcomes expect to reduce cost and material waste and lift competitiveness of Australian manufacturing industry. . Scheme: Early Career Industry Fellowships.
