Description

Designing Dignity: Civic equity through public bathroom architecture . Often sites of discomfort and shame this project reimagines Australian public toilet infrastructure as a multipurpose amenity shaped by diverse socio values and cultural needs. In the context of rapid urban change, this projects deploys a needs-based approach to public toilet design to speculate on a contemporary, inclusive amenity for sanitation (including breastfeeding, menstruation, incontinence) and extended to ensure public toilet infrastructure meets that needs of carers, cleaning (for reasons such as homelessness, faith-based rituals or in-transit needs) and considers that demand of overcrowding in homes or unreliable, unsafe, and sub-standard domestic facilities..
