Description

Australia’s Shared Responsibility for Pacific Climate Refugees. This project aims to build ethical guidelines for Australia’s treatment of Pacific climate refugees, outlining how responsibility should be shared internationally, domestically, and with climate refugees themselves. It expects to generate new ethical principles, concepts, and policies for a model of shared responsibility, using a collaborative approach in which refugee leaders and practitioners are engaged with academic experts in ethical dialogue. Expected outcomes include detailed ethical guidelines for international and domestic policy innovation. This should provide significant benefits to Australian policymakers, refugee-focused NGOs, and climate refugees, and advance Australia’s international leadership on climate refugee issues..
