Description

Time Layered Cultural Map of Australia: Advanced Techniques and Big Data. The aim of the project is to understand Australian history and culture better through the perspective afforded by large data sets with spatial and temporal coordinates. To this end the project aims to build open-access infrastructure to create and analyse large spatio-temporal data sets, and to provide new map layers to serve as context for multiple research projects. Users would be able to deal with spatio-temporal data sets as dynamic systems and create multi-layered maps with them. The benefits would be a marked increase in the ease of humanities research using digital mapping and clear pathways to big data, high-end projects combining structured space and time data with traditional humanities insights and approaches. . Scheme: Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities. Field: 4303 - Historical Studies. Lead: Em/Prof Hugh Craig
