Local projects helping communities withstand and recover from natural disasters. Open to registered charities, social enterprises with social/environmental impact, and community organisations
Requirements Summary
NAB Foundation Community Grants are open to registered charities, social enterprises, not-for-profit organisations, and government-funded facilities with an ABN and charitable purpose in Australia. Applicants must propose projects addressing natural disaster preparation or recovery in one of four categories: Training and planning, Community Recovery, Environment and wildlife, or Equipment and Infrastructure. The grant provides up to $25,000 per project, with $1.2 million distributed annually across two rounds (February-March and August-September 2026). Priority is given to organisations with annual income under $3 million and less than 40% government funding, though larger organisations with local initiatives may apply.
Eligibility Criteria
Charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for Profits Commission (ACNC)
Social enterprises (not-for-profit and for-profit) or start-ups with social or environmental impact at core of business
Groups or organisations (not-for-profit and for-profit) holding an Australian Business Number (ABN) with charitable purpose
Local government or government-funded facilities (school, childcare centre) seeking funding for charitable purpose program
If not registered with ACNC, must provide documentation demonstrating charitable purpose
Project must be located in Australia
Program must relate to preparing for or recovering from bushfires, floods, cyclones or storms
Project must align with Training and planning, Community Recovery, Environment and wildlife, or Equipment and Infrastructure categories
Previous grant recipients must wait one full year (two grant rounds) before applying again
Organisation does not need Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status
Sole traders or partnerships are excluded
Foundations that are grant-making bodies are excluded
Assessment Criteria
Each grant assessed on its own merits by NAB Foundation team and NAB leaders in relevant regions
Final grant amount depends on nature and needs of successful applicant
Community Grant recipients eligible for Impact Grant shortlist, decided by NAB colleague vote
