Use grants first when you need open opportunities, deadlines, and application-ready pathways.

Workflow

Search philanthropic funders

Move from causes and places into foundations that already give in those areas.

Workflow

Search delivery organisations

Pressure-test who is already doing the work across charities and social enterprises before outreach.

Workflow

Start with need, not supply

Check place-level funding gaps, disadvantage, and community-controlled presence before you prioritise a funder or an application.

What strong users do here

Community organisations search grants, then trace back to aligned foundations and relationship targets.

Foundations search charities and social enterprises by cause, geography, and community signals before opening a round.

Corporate and philanthropic teams check place need and existing coverage before funding whoever shouts loudest.

The University of Melbourne — Discovery Projects
Young people shaping livelihoods across three generations. This proposal for a third cohort to the Life Patterns longitudinal study aims to investigate how in a context of technological and structural change a new generation of young Australians builds livelihood-resilience, keeping the focus on those elements that have proven to be enabling for previous generations. The project aims to generate new knowledge about the influences of education, work, housing, relationships, wellbeing on positive trajectories. Expected outcomes of this project include systematic evidence and a new holistic livelihood-resilience framework for analysing youth trajectories. This project should provide significant benefits to the national response supporting positive youth transitions through education and work.. Scheme: Discovery Projects. Field: 1608 - Sociology. grant
The University of Newcastle — Discovery Projects
The pull-out capacity of a newly developed grouted soil nailing system. The project aims to develop a new reliable and efficient grouted soil nail system for improving the performance of loose soft soils. Important applications of the research include the mitigation of landslides, which pose a major threat to communities and infrastructure worldwide. Laboratory small scale experiments and numerical analyses will be carried out to optimize the grouting efficiency and enhance the pull-out resistance between the grout and surrounded soil in the soil nail system. This integrated project will provide a valuable tool for engineers who wish to stabilize loose fill slopes or soft grounds in Australia and worldwide.. Scheme: Discovery Projects. grant
The University of Western Australia — Discovery Projects
Why do galaxies stop forming stars? This project aims to use the most powerful radio and optical telescopes in the world to identify the mechanisms driving the quenching of star formation in the most massive structures in the Universe. This research expects to answer some of the fundamental questions identified by the international astronomy community regarding how galaxies form and evolve, how star formation proceeds and why nearly half of the galaxies in the local Universe have stopped forming stars. It will forge strong links with international partners, strengthen Australian expertise in a critical area of astronomical research, offer an ideal platform for accelerating the training of students in STEM and contribute to public outreach work.. grant
The University of Adelaide — Linkage Projects
Development of drought tolerant, high protein legume for arid Australia. The aim of this research is to demonstrate the molecular basis of a non-proteinogenic amino acid toxin accumulation by using genomics and genome editing to produce a non-transgenic, protein rich legume. The significance of the outcomes will be a fundamental understanding of how non-proteinogenic amino acids are metabolised in plants and an inexpensive, high-protein feed for the pork and chicken industries thereby reducing production costs and increasing profitability. The outcomes from the research are fundamental knowledge of non-proteinogenic amino acid metabolism and turnkey approach to identify, engineer, test and produce value added crops. The benefits of the research are a multi-purpose crop for Australian crop and animal producers.. Scheme: Linkage Projects. Field: 0703 - Crop and Pasture Production. Lead: A/Prof Iain Searle

grant
The University of Queensland — Linkage Projects
Digging deeper to improve yield stability. This project aims to provide innovative breeding solutions that harness the ‘hidden’ part of the plant, roots, to support the development of more productive crops in the face of climate variability. The project expects to generate new insights into the biology and genetics of root development in barley, a model cereal crop, by applying cutting-edge genome editing, phenotyping and genomics technologies. Anticipated outcomes include novel methodologies to accelerate breeding for diverse production environments, with direct applications in barley, and other major cereals including wheat and oats. This should provide significant economic and social benefits to the Australian grains industry through yield stability amidst climate variability.. Scheme: Linkage Projects.
